Gettin’ ‘er done.
I’m getting it done, i.e., Arthroscopic Knee Surgery to repair the torn meniscus on Sept 17. It should have been done in June, but NO, we had to travel to Europe. So NOW, it approaches…………. I have trying to get most things done I can:
1. Canning Tomatillo Salsa. As fruit ripens, it’s canned…..and looks like there will still be surplus fruit when were done.
2. Keeping up with watering the garden, cleanup, maintenance, picking tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, carrots, peppers……and the FIRST ears of corn were devoured yesterday. SUNFLOWERS are now blooming ’round the perimeter. Nice accent.
3. Cooking. NOTHING has been done ahead. Hm. Best get fixin’ up some freezer meals. Or, I COULD eat Hot Dogs every day, eh?
4. Calls to doctor. They’ll be faxing forms to the chosen physical therapist (Thanks, Nancy)….and appts made next week for post-op therapy.
5. W/E at the Double Wide (Thanks Toni & John) THIS next weekend. We’ll be towing a trailer (thanks, Nancy M) and buying firewood to haul back here and dump. NO, unless Rodger decides to stack it ALL, some will wait until mid-October for us both to properly get it placed under the woodshed cover. It’s GREAT Pear Wood from an orchard up there, though, all pre-cut and cured.
6. Dog walks continue until Sept 15……… and MAC still needs more, he’s gained 4 pounds. AT LEAST we’ve found out through blood tests (thanks, Kristen), that 1, NO, he can’t donate blood, his type is a very specific type, and not donor worthy, but 2, he has NO allergies showing up. That means the hair loss (he’s recovering from now), was simply some infection….hm. More research.

7. Festa Italia! On the 12th, we go with Elena & Emilio to Farmington Gardens Tomato Tasting Festival (about 60-70 kinds of heirlooms will be cut and ready for critical reviews)…..then we’ll come up here for pasta making with the new machine. Emilio will show us exactly how it’s done properly! Woohoo! I am excited about that.
8. On the 13th, see “ALL MY SONS” at Artist Rep Theater (moved up from the 20th because of surgery).
9. On the 11th, make sure we visit Beth who’ll be visiting the Ebert/Hoppes from Wisconsin. Yes, there will be cheese curds.
10. Try to get at least 2-3 batches of Apple Ginger Marmalade made while you can. The graventeins in the yard are ripening right now.
11. On the 8th, visit Dr. Young for some stress tests prior to surgery……….
12. On the 16th, pre-op visit to Dr. Lamprecht, 11:30.
13. On the 17th, surgery at 9:00 am. Hm.
13. Recovery begins……………. one day completely off the feet, and then begin moving around.
14. Physical Therapy begins.
